NFL Playoffs 2024 (Wild Card Weekend)
LA Rams (10-7) vs DET Lions (12-5) (Sun)
Final Score: Lions 24, Rams 23
Lions pull out a close one at home…
Revenge game for Jared Goff….
This game was a huge one for both teams as the Rams had just snuck into the playoffs with a couple of big wins down the stretch. But this was a really big game for both QB’s as both were facing the teams that gave them up for the other one to help win a super bowl. Nobody blamed the Rams for picking up Stafford but the Lions got more of a gamble with Goff. It looks to be a gamble that paid off as the former Cal product led the Lions to their first NFC North Title in 31 years and now the teams first Playoff win since the 90’s. Even if they don't make the Super Bowl the Lions will have 2 home games after the Dallas loss and their victory, thanks to Jared Goff..
What's next for Stafford and the Rams…
As for Stafford and the Rams they have a very bright future ahead of them as they will be returning former triple crown wideout Cooper Kupp. They also have 2 young emerging stars in wideout Puka Nacua and running back Kyren Williams, so as long as Stafford can continue to play at the high level he always has, the Rams will be back in the postseason for years to come…
Final Thoughts…
In the end this was a nail biter as both teams traded blows late into the 4th quarter. The Rams just didn't have enough to be able to knock off the Lions who seem to be a team of destiny as they won the division title and have outlasted teams like the Cowboys. Will they win a title? Who knows but I know that we need to start looking at the Lions as true contenders in the coming years..
