Prediction: (6-10)
When looking at the season so far
you must ask yourself why the 49ers are even at .500, they played some bad
teams and 6-2 would have been a more realistic record for last years team. You
know the team that had a 10-point lead late in the Super Bowl and gave up 3 TD’s
to lose by 11. Yeah that team should have been able to march through teams like
the Eagles and Dolphins, but alas that was not to be. The cruel turf at MetLife
Stadium in New York made it so, the 49ers put at least 3 players on the IR through
2 weekends out east. The 49ers lost their starting QB (Jimmy G) and one of
their starting corners (Sherman) for a few weeks, they also lost two of their
best defensive linemen (Thomas & Bosa) for the season. This has left the
49ers with a Bad News Bears type roster, they do not have any healthy running
backs it seems as Coleman, Mozart, both have had a stint on the IR as well.
This team is more beat up than a Mike Tyson opponent in Tyson’s prime. When it
comes to the NFL that is how it goes injuries happen.
Alas the first half of the season
leads to the 49ers probably having a disaster of the 2nd half. I
have zero faith in Nick Mullens being as inconsistent as he has been when
taking over the starting job. I believe he is 4-7 in those starts. At times he
looked like the next gen QB the 49ers want and others Nick looked like He barley
understood the offense. It looks like the 49ers are going to have to run with
him for at least the next few weeks as they figure out the extent of the injury
to Jimmy G, which could have him out for the remainder of the season. If he is
the 49ers will be without 4 of their top players from that Super Bowl team last
year (Bosa, Thomas, Jimmy G and Kittle). This has me believing that this team
is most likely not playoff bound, and really I would prefer to see them tank
the season for another top 5 pick and see if they can add another great piece to
this team when they are healthy.
