This
year at the All Star break the Athletics are looking good as their pitching is
coming into shape and their hitting seems to be continuing its upward trend. Khris
Davis has spent some time on the DL this season kind of derailing that big
season he looked like he was having to start the season. Matt Chapman showed to
be of All-Star caliber as he not only made the team and had a great showing at
the Home Run Derby. They seemed to have gotten hot in the second half as they
have begun to inch closer to Houston. But first they must move themselves into
position to secure a wild card berth and get into the postseason they would. At
the end of the day I believe that the Athletics are in line for another 90-win
season and maybe a wild card berth depending on how the AL East shakes out. This
team has surprised before as last year at the All-Star break, they were barely
in the hunt for the postseason and finished with 90+ wins and a birth in the
Wild Card game. It looks as if the best they can do is a wild card again this
year with Houston being as hot as they are, hopefully this year will be a
different result to the WC game. Check me out next week as I look at the Giants
at the All-Star Break.
