At this point it’s Bama, Miami, Clemson and Oklahoma...but that could change...
Were coming down the home stretch...
Here we sit at the cusp of another stretch run of another college football season and we are still pretty confused as to who will get into the 4 tea format. In the past the committee has said that being one of the top 5 conferences had the best shot at getting in. In previous years we have seen this come into play. This will be the 1st year that a Pac 12 team isn't getting in, or at least that's the way it looks right now. The Pac 12 championship game has yet to be played, and that should throw a wrench in the current plans for the playoff series. Now last year the teams that got in were all worthy and that i can give the committee is that they always pick four deserving teams to compete for the championship…
The thing with a 4 team tournament is that there will always be teams that get left out, this year it will most likely be the Pac 12 champ. This particular team has made the playoffs every year since its inception, so that will be a sad 1st for the committee makes its way to the Big 12 as the 4th conference to get in. That is pretty awesome in itself as it shows the ability to move on from one conference if it has a down year. But alas we are still short with only 4 teams able to play for the title…
This is why i purpose that we move to a 6 team playoff where almost all of the deserving teams get i and it would make things so much less complicated as far as who gets in. It would be a simple 5+1 system where the Power 5 conference champ gets in and we have 1 wild card team gets in. Now that will make it difficult for them to make a choice on that final team. But the Top 5 spots will be decided in the conference championship games to be played the week before. The top 2 teams in CFB will get bye’s to the semis while the other 4 do battle. This is a clean format that allows for more games and fun for the fans. But that's just my humble opinion….
