Double K's Take: NFL Season Preview (Pt. 5 NFC South)

Part 5 NFC South

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (Predicted Finish: 10-6, Division Winners): The Buccaneers are a team that should be a lot better than they were last year, the addition of a solid wideout in Desean Jackson should give QB Winston a reliable target deep. To go with the young core of receivers that they already have and the combination of Rodgers and Martin in the backfield makes this offense pretty potent. That combined with a up and coming defense will allow the Bucs to get to 10 wins and a division title in 2017 in my humble opinion…

CAROLINA PANTHERS (Predicted Finish: 8-8, No Playoffs): The Panthers are looking to bounce back from a horrible campaign in 2016, one that was so bad it allowed them to pick number 8 in this years draft and hit a home run with versatile Stanford RB Christian McCaffery. To add to Stewart and Funchess as a young core of skill players that should put them back on the map. I just don’t think it will be enough to get them into the playoffs as I see them only winning 8 games this year…

ATLANTA FALCONS (Predicted Finish: 8-8, No Playoffs): The Falcons in 2016 were the team to beat as they had an explosive offense and a stout defense that led them all the way to the Super Bowl. Even though they lost the big game they do return most of their starters from last season in pretty much the same system. The main difference will be the man that landed himself a HC job in SF and that is Kyle Shanahan a big part of what makes his system so effective is him calling the plays. We will see how far Atlanta falls off but 8-8 should be about where they land…

NEW ORELEANS SAINTS (Predicted Finish: 7-9, No Playoffs): The Saints have always put a good squad on the field and this year should be no different with the addition of Pro Bowl RB Adrian Peterson. I expect that Sean Payton and Drew Brees aren’t going to change too much about the offense with Peterson there and the defense hast gotten much better from where it was a year ago so I don’t expect the team as a whole to be much better. For this reason I give the Saints 7 wins this season and no playoffs!! Maybe next year???....
