My Thought on this years offseason for the Oakland Raiders….
The biggest story of this off season for the Oakland Raiders had nothing to do with the on the field product. It was primarily about the front office and their desire to take the team some place else other than Oaktown. Now this makes absolutely no sense to me because the city of Oakland has some of the most loyal fans in the entire league. Alas Mark Davis decided that he doesn’t want to play in front of a loyal fan base that had supported the team thru some horrible years. He would rather the team play in front of a bunch of tourist and a few scattered Raiders faithful fans. In the end that’s what it will be as the Raiders make the move to Las Vegas to put down roots and make a new home and this time I don’t think they will be coming back….
The reaction to this move really was no surprise…there were 2 distinct reactions to the move !!! 1) “Its okay im a fan for life no matter what!” – this crowd seems to be about 40% of the fan base still in Oakland as they are remorseful about the move to LV but understand that these things happen and will support the team no matter what…2) The “Fuck the Raiders” crowd – This crowd consist of the rest of Raider Nation after the announcement of the move to Vegas. These 2 sides will have to get along at least for now as the Raiders will remain in Oakland until the year 2020. As the new stadium in LV wont be up until at least then. Now as a fan of the Raiders cross town rivals its kind of fun to watch fans stew in anger at the team. Alas I feel sorry for them as they must not know what to feel, in my humble opinion I say support your team no matter what. I could never bring myself to walk away from any of my lifelong teams as I am a fan of those franchises till I die. I do though understand the hatred that comes from your team leaving you high and dry, that would cause me to feel hatred towards my teams but never to turn my back on them no matter how much I feel it!!....
