Double K's MLB Season Wrap Up 2015: San Diego Padres...

San Diego Padres (74-88, 4th Place in NL West, No Post Season)...

The Padres were somewhat of an enigma this season. The addition of SP James Shields was supposed to make them contenders this year at least for the NL West title. Alas that was not the case this season as the Padres didn't even reach .500 and pretty much struggled all season long. The hitting was streaky lead by Matt Kemp and Derrick Norris, the pitching led by Mr. Shields was just above mediocre and in today's MLB that's just not good enough. They finished the season outside of the playoffs again and look to change that going into next season…

This season could be the one in which they break out of the drought, they return most of their starters from last season. The pitching staff is pretty much intact and will improve with another year underneath their belt. The best thing moving forward is the fact that they are young and ;have room for improvement and time to get better. Will they do that underneath their new manager? i can't tell you for sure but sometimes just having a new face giving the orders can breath new life into a team...
