In a season that saw the Golden State Warriors become one of the best
teams in the NBA today, they still have their detractors that think that
somehow they got lucky. Well I say that playing in the toughest conference in
football and still having a historic season should show that there wasn’t much
luck involved. They were ranked in the top 2 in both offensive and defensive efficiency
all season long. Then came the playoffs the time when the Warriors were going
to be exposed as a weak team. Let’s take a look at how this weak team made a
run to the Western Conference Finals…
Round 1 – Opponent: #8
New Orleans Pelicans, Result: GS 4-0 – There is no way that It can be said
that the Warriors had a easy time with the Pelicans. Anthony Davis and company
put up one hell of a fight even in being swept. At the end of the day the
Warriors showed to be the better team and were able to shutdown the Pelicans
and send them home with a moral victory or two…
Round 2 – Opponent:
#4 Memphis Grizzlies, Result: GS 4-2 – This series showed some weakness that
the Warriors had. They could be out done in one area and that is the low post.
That is exactly what the Grizzlies did in game 2 and 3 they played physical
basketball and sent the Warriors home unhappy and looking to find themselves.
They did exactly that as they rattled off 3 more victories and advanced to the
conference finals…
Round 3 – Opponent:
#2 Houston Rockets, Result:??? – This is the farthest the Warriors have
been in over 40 years, and I plan on relishing it. The Rockets will be a tough
run as they are very skilled at all of the positions the Warriors have
weakness. The Warriors are a team that will look to take advantage of every opportunity
given to them by the Rockets. Final prediction is that the Warriors will take
this series in 6 games and advance to the NBA Finals…
