Double K’s Take: The exciting 2014-15 NBA Trade Deadline…

(The trade deadline was last Thursday 2/19/15)

This past Thursday was this season’s NBA trading deadline… And boy was it busy you had teams like the Nuggets and 76ers who seem to be offloading players at an alarming rate. Then teams like the Warriors and the Grizzlies are just sitting pat. Teams like the Thunder went out and tried to make their roster better for a late playoff push as they fight with the Suns for the 8th spot in the tough Western Conference. But all of this really pales in comparison to these three trades that really caught my attention on Thursday…

Goran Dragic sent from Suns to Heat in deadline trade:  Dragic had made it known to anyone that would listen that he did not want to be a Sun anymore. He had asked the Suns to trade him to the Heat, Mavs or one other team that doesn’t come to mind. At the end of the day the Heat won by overbidding for Dragic by sending 4 players and 2 1st round picks to the Suns. In return the Heat takes in Goran Dragic and his brother Zoran who will be looking to help the Heat get into the playoffs and make an impact with a team that has a lot of good parts and the Dragic brothers will be a great addition….

Kevin Garnett returns home to the T’Wolves for Thaddeus Young and a pick: This was a trade that caught my eye because this is a home coming that not many people saw coming. Garnett has been gone from the TWolves for almost a decade, he has had multiple chances to go back in recent years reaching free agency. He avoided going back and now he is on his way back home to finish his career with the team that drafted him. Congrats to KG and congrats to the Wolves who have found themselves a leader for a young team that needs a veteran presence…

2013-14 ROY Michael Carter Williams traded to Bucks in package deal: Now this trade only got my attention because it involved the reigning Rookie of the Year Michael Carter Williams the Bucks give Jason Kidd a point guard to nurture and turn into a star. Brandon Knight could have been that but I think that Carter Williams will benefit from Kidd’s tutelage. Only time will tell so we will have to watch the Bucks and see…
