West Coast Bias: Oakland Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes wins the 2014 HR Derby, 1st back to back champ since Ken Griffey Jr (98’ & 99’)…
On
Monday night July 14th 2014, the world of baseball held its annual
display of power as the All Stars got together for another Home Run Derby. This
field included som big time HR hitters of recent memory (Jose Bautista) and up
and coming guys that may be winning HR titles in years to come (Puig/Frazier).
For the second year in a row though the title went to a unsuspecting young Cuban
who isn’t exactly leading the league in homers. Matter of fact this young kid hadn’t
hit a homer in almost his last 100 at bats!! He stumbled through the first
round having to knock out his own teammate to get into the bracket round. But
once in that round he hit 25 homers to take out both Adam Jones and Jose
Bautista to get to the finals and pound on Todd Frazier to claim his second
title in as many years. From all of us here at Double K’s Classroom CONGRATS
and welcome to a exclusive club…
