If
you have been watching ESPN like everyone else you know that the Golden State
Warriors have not been very loud this offseason. They have made a couple of
moves that I think will help the team but they haven’t really made any huge
splashes!! Well I may be wrong about that the 1st move that the
Warriors made after their 1st round exit from the playoffs was
firing the 1st man to take the Warriors to the playoffs in back to
back seasons in over 20 years!! Mark Jackson was a great coach and he really
did nothing wrong, he was a great coach and most of the roster was devoted to
him. I do believe that he will find a job elsewhere in the NBA!! After that the
Warriors shocked the NBA world by hiring another in experienced Head Coach in
former player and GM Steve Kerr. Kerr takes the job over the Knicks job and
coaching for his mentor Phil Jackson. The roster he has inherited isn’t a bad
one at all but they are still trying to add pieces to make it better so let’s
get into that a little bit…
Warriors are in talks
to trade for the Timberwolves PF Kevin Love – This has been a ongoing thing
for the past couple of months. There have been reports that the holdup is that
the Warriors are unwilling to part with SG Klay Thompson in the deal and
Minnesota wants him badly. I personally think you keep Thompson of the table
because the thought of having a starting lineup that consist of the “Splash
Brothers” Curry & Thompson, Igodala, Love and Bogut in the front court.
That is a starting 5 that can have NBA Western Conference Finals, if not NBA
Finals aspirations. But we have yet to see this deal come to fruition so for
now all it is, is a dream. Also the LeBron James situation has pulled Loves
interest to two teams and the Cavaliers have more to offer the Wolves than the
Warriors so it looks like we are going to have to sit back relax and watch the
cards fall…
Warriors sign G Shaun
Livingston and F Brandon Rush to contracts – These two guys make sense for
what the Warriors are trying to do. Rush is a former Warrior who performed well
when he was with the team and to his credit is a very good defensive forward.
He can come in and give Igudala a rest and allow the team not to miss a beat on
the defensive end. Livingston can provide a rest for Thompson from time to time
and once again not lose a beat on the defensive side of the court. But both
will be critical to the bench if the Warriors are going to contend in the
Western Conference. These are the 1st two new pieces to Kerr’s
Warriors, lets see what he can do with them…
