The LeBron James
Situation…
So
after all the hub bub and a very long wait the prodigal son is returning to
Cleveland. That’s right something that I thought was never going to happen has
become fact. This offseason started out with the inevitable with Carmelo
Anthony opting out of his contract In New York. A little south of the Big Apple
down in Miami the King made his decision to opt out of his contract with the
defending Eastern Conference Champions. Now when Bosh and Wade opted out of
their contracts I thought for sure that this was all part of the master plan.
That LeBron and his buddies had planned this all out to save Miami some money
under the cap to allow them to go after some of the top free agents that were
available this summer…
That
is not what turned out to be; once again the decision was the focus of
everything that I saw on ESPN. Where was LeBron going to go? (The whole time I thought
for sure he was resigning maybe even taking a pay cut to bring them more help
to the Heat!!) Who would follow him back to Miami or any other destination he
went to? Then there were the rumors that the Cavaliers had made enough moves to
have the cap space to bring him home!! (Still didn’t think it was going to
happen!). Then the fateful day came and the announcement was made “LeBron James
was going home, he was going back to Cleveland” (What!?!) The more disturbing
part was the reaction of the Cleveland fans that a little over a year ago were
still hoping that he would choke on those darn title rings he won in Miami.
They somehow miraculously forgave him for everything and were ready to accept
him home as the prodigal man!!...
Now
with that story told let’s look at the Cavaliers moving forward. There are
rumors that the team can get all star forward Kevin Love away from the T’Wolves
and that is a very scary thought. That combination of players would result in
Cleveland being an instant contender for the Eastern Conference crown with the
Bulls who just added former Lakers PF Pau Gasol to replace Carlo Boozer who
they will most likely amnesty for salary cap reasons. Let’s not jump the gun
though that trade has not been made and the roster as constituted is really
young and really talented but I don’t know if they are truly ready for where
LeBron can take them. I know that they are the “Vegas Favorites” to win the
title in 2014-15 seasons. I personally don’t like this because I don’t have as
much faith in what this young roster can do. I definitely think that this team
has a lot of potential but are they championship ready? This guy here says that
you have to wait for things to really be good and LeBron put them on a two year
clock that might expire after a year if the King isn’t happy. I think that he
is poised for a long stay in Cleveland I just don’t know how many titles are in
the city with him…
