The
Warriors went into this offseason as a playoff team. That was proven last year
by then knocking off the Nugget’s in the 1st round. Then taking the
Western Conference champs to the limit. Then they showed they can bounce back as
they lose their two of their top bench players to free agency and the bright
lights of Cleveland and Sacramento. They went out and filled those holes with
at least 1-2 players who can try to fill in the lost production. But the key
thing was they kept their core of Curry, Thompson, Bogut and Lee and even got
another star to add to the starting lineup. That star was Andre Igudala who
hopes to help the Warriors get better on the defensive end of the court and
make them a team that has to be paid attention to in the 2013 season. Even more
so in the 2013-14 NBA Playoffs where I think they will end up….
Warriors Additions:
1.
PG
Tony Douglas (HOU)(F/A): Douglas isn’t the best possible replacement for
Jack but he is a veteran PG who can come in and give solid minuets when Curry
needs to rest his ankles…
2.
SF
Andre Igudala (DEN) (F/A): Igudala was a huge pickup for the Warriors
because now they have 3 of the top 10 perimeter defenders in the NBA and he
will pay huge dividends in the postseason…
3.
PG
Nemanja Nedovic (EUR) (DRFT): In a series of moves that saw the Warriors
draft and trade multiple players to land this kid who comes in with high hopes
of eyeing the backup PG position…
4.
F/C
Jermaine O’Neal (PHX) (F/A): O’Neal is not the most ideal fit on a young
team like this Warriors squad. But like Douglas he will provide veteran
leadership and show his true value in the playoffs…
5.
F/C
Marresse Speights (MEM) (F/A): Speights should end up as a pretty much as
Landry’s replacement coming off the bench to provide rest for the Warriors
starting Frontcourt…
Warriors Departures:
1.
F
Richard Jefferson (UTA) (TRD): Jefferson was playing limited minuets for
the Warriors during his time with the team and unfortunately his big $$$
contract didn’t equal up to his production…
2.
G/F
Brandon Rush (UTA) (TRD): Rush hurt himself early in the season and
unfortunately became expendable with the Warriors strong performance last
season so they shipped him to Utah…
3.
F/C
Adriens Beidrens (UTA) (TRD): Beidrens was rarely being used when the
Warriors were at full strength. So once again it was a case of $$$ not equaling up
to production…
4.
PG
Jarrett Jack (CLE) (F/A): Jack was huge off the bench for the Warriors last
season and he was the for sure leader when Curry was on the bench. To lose him
was a huge loss it is going to be hard to fill…
5.
F Carl
Landry (SAC) (F/A): Landry another huge part of the depth of this Warriors
squad last season as Landry provided rest for both Lee and Bogut at critical
times and was able to produce in those minuets…
Injuries heading into
2013:
1.
F/C David
Lee (GS) (Hip): Lee looks to be good to start the season in the starting
lineup and that will provide a major boost for the Warriors early…
2.
F/C
Festus Ezili (GS) (ACL): Ezili will be out until at least X-Mas or the All
Star break. But when he returns he will add more much needed depth to the front
court…
3.
F/C
Andrew Bogut (GS) (Foot): Bogut looks good coming into the season so he
will be joining his frontcourt brother David Lee and giving the Warriors a
solid start…
4.
PG
Stephen Curry (GS) (Foot): Curry is
another one who looks to be in the starting lineup at the open of the season.
So the Warriors should come out the gate swinging soto speak…
