Matchup #2
(1) 01’ University of
Miami Hurricanes (HC: Larry Coker, REC: 12-0, 7-0BIGEST, Star Player: WR Andre Johnson
(HOU)): Now any team that wins a National Title is a good team but a team
that churns out 17 1st round picks. That’s right I said 17 1st
round draft picks. The highest of which was WR Andre Johnson now there were
plenty of top notch players that came from this group RB Frank Gore, S Ed Reed.
But the one that kills me is QB Ken Dorsey who was drafted in the 7th
round by the 49ers and expected to eventually be their starting QB. But as the
years went on they began to realize that what made this former national
champion so good in college was the cast of future pro bowlers that he had
surrounding him. But none the less this was a amazing team….
(8) 83 Philadelphia
76ers (HC: Billy Cunningham, REC: 65-17, Star Player: SF Julius Irving): Now
this was a team that I didn’t get to watch in their prime I was a little young
at the time. But any team that combined Moses Malone and Maurice Cheeks with
the future hall of famer Dr J. Made this team almost unstoppable. This team
dominated the NBA to the tune of 65 wins and a magical run in the playoffs that
lead to them winning a NBA title. This is a team that I have had a chance to
watch on film and Dr. J was poetry in motion but just like the Lakers teams of
the 70’s the Sixers put themselves together a HOF team that made a HOF run thru
the NBA…
