Eastern Conference (Round 1)…


(8) NY Islanders (24-17-7, 55pts) vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins (36-12-0, 72pts) (2-4): In a series that saw the 2nd best team in all of hockey (Blackhawks) the Pittsburgh Penguins. Face off against an islanders squad that was going to play tough but everyone knew that they weren’t going to really put up much of a fight and the Penguins managed to dispatch of them in just 6 games…


(7) Ottawa Senators (25-17-6, 56pts) vs. (2) Montreal Canadians (29-14-5, 63pts) (4-1): The Senators managed to pull one of the 1st upsets of the 1st round of the playoffs. They took down the mighty Canadians in only 5 games. With a team playing as hot as Ottawa is you have to think that they have a real chance at winning a Stanley Cup similar to the run that Los Angeles had last year…


(6) New York Rangers (26-18-4, 56pts) vs. (3) Washington Capitals (27-18-3, 57pts) (4-3): The Rangers took on Alex Ovetchkin and the Capitals as they looked to return to the Conference finals and save their managers job. Well in a 7 game set they proved that despite the discrepancy in talent the Rangers were the better team and advanced to the next round to prove it…


(5) Toronto Maple Leafs (26-17-5, 57pts) vs. (4) Boston Bruins (28-14-6, 62pts) (3-4): The Boston Bruins looked to make the Maple Leafs look silly as they moved onto the next round and even though the leafs took it to seven games the way that they just gave it away in the last couple of minuets of the game and allow the Bruins move on in the Stanley Cup Playoffs…
