Double K’s 2013 NBA Playoff Matchups: Western Conference…

Western Conference (Round 2)…

(5) Memphis Grizzlies vs. (1) Oklahoma City Thunder (4-1): All I can say about this series was wow!!! The Grizzlies made the Thunder look silly but the only reason why they were able to do that is because the Thunder were without their star point guard Russell Westbrook. Kevin Durant gave it his best college try, heck I think he eve averaged almost 30PPG during this series. It still wasn’t enough to stop the Grizzlies who were able to not only double team Durant but collapse their 2 big men on him if he drove to the basket and the rest of the Thunder role players never found their stroke so the Thunder find themselves playing golf and watching the grizzlies and Spurs fight for a spot in the finals…

(6) Golden State Warriors vs. (2) San Antonio Spurs (2-4): The Spurs came into this series as the outright favorite. And if not for a couple of big shots by the veteran Spurs players the Warriors would have come home up 2 games to none. But instead they lost game one in double overtime and just never quite figured it out the rest of the series. They split the home series and ended up giving away game 6 with a bunch of rookie mistakes. Mark Jackson took them as far as he could this season hopefully he will be able to bring back all the pieces next year for another playoff run that could end in the finals. But for now it will be the Spurs who advance and look to get past the Grizzlies for a spot in the NBA Finals…
