There
was a lot of up and down during the 1st 2 rounds of the NCAA a lot
of big time upsets. For small sized schools. But overall it made the tournament
a much more interesting sun this year. I can tell you now that with the events
of this week a lot of people had their brackets busted. As for me with the loss
of Indiana on Day 5 all but one of my brackets were officially busted. That one
was taken care of when the Blue Devils lost in the next round. Now im pretty
sure that there are some brackets out there that had the Cardinal winning the
title but only time will tell on that one but most of the brackets in the US
are done. Wow what a crazy year in the NCAA’s….
Day 5
A. (4)
Syracuse beats (1) Indiana 61-50 (Sweet Sixteen): The Syracuse zone just
confused and dumbfounded the Hoosiers. A team that I thought was going to take
it all the way to the title game. They were bounced by a upstart Syracuse team
lead by coach jim Beaheim but don’t put it past the Hoosiers to be back in the tournament
next year and making another run at the title…
B.
(9)
Wichita State beats (13) LaSalle 72-58 (Sweet Sixteen): This wasn’t necessarily
a upset being that Wichita State was the higher seed. But it was a battle
between 2 Cinderella teams in the tourney and State kept their dream run going
all the way into the Elite Eight where they would be facing a daunting task in #2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes…
C.
(3)
Marquette beats (2) Miami (FL) 71-61 (Sweet Sixteen): The Warriors came
into this game knowing that they were the underdog but still came out and
played like they were the favorite as they beat the #2 Hurricanes in a Sweet
Sixteen matchup that was dominated by the Warriors as they advanced to the Elite
Eight…
Day 6
D.
(4)
Michigan beats (1) Kansas 87-85 (Sweet Sixteen): The Wolverines pulled off the
upset to knock off another #1 seed in this year’s Tournament. Now the question
is can the Michigan Wolverines take it all the way? They looked like a
championship squad turning a late lead
for the Jayhawks into a overtime win for the Wolverines…

Day 6 Top Performers

In the elite the matchups got tougher and it showed as we saw matchups
that ended up surprising the basketball world as team that haven’t reached the
Final Four in many years and this year Final Four is full of teams that we
haven’t seen for awhile because as I have said many times this season the NCAA
seeding committee got it wrong as there are 2 (4) seeds a (1) seed and a (9)
seed in the semis. But here are the upsets from the Elite Eight from last
weekend…
Day 7
A.
(4)
Syracuse beats (3) Marquette 55-39 (Elite Eight): The Orangemen have been playing
a perplexing zone defense all tournament long and me just like a lot of other
people saw their run coming to an end against the Warriors. But not only did
Syracuse win they dominated holding Marquette to a historical 39 points in the
game. So now they will face off with the Wolverines in the Final Four for a
trip to the Championship game…
B.
(9)
Wichita State beats (2) Ohio State 70-66 (Elite Eight): In yet another
shocking upset of this tournament the Shockers send home yet another NCAA title
favorite in the Ohio State Buckeyes. Aaron Craft and company looked good early
but Wichita States late defense helped them to stand up to the Giant an get to
the Final Four where they will face Louisville…
Day 8
C.
(4)
Michigan beats (3) Florida 79-59 (Elite Eight): The Wolverines came in
looking to make history and they did just that. They reached the Final Four for
the 1st time since the Fab Five were sophomores (1995). This young bunch
of stars will look to take down the mighty Orangemen and get to the fist title
game since the infamous Chris Webber timeout game….

And now we are down to the Final Four we have (9) Wichita State, (1) Louisville,
(4) Michigan and (4) Syracuse these teams will battle it out in Atlanta next
Saturday to determine who will be the next NCAA National Champion. I know I
will be watching mainly because I have always been a huge fan of the Maze and
Blue and hope that they cut the nets down and win a title. But once again only
time will tell…
