Western Conference…
(8) Houston Rockets
vs. (1) Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC up 2-0): The Thunder came into this
series as the perennial favorite to go to the NBA finals. But now after the
Game 2 injury to PG Russell Westbrook that may put him out for the remainder of
the playoffs. Who knows where this series can go, it now becomes a wide open
Western Conference with every team with a superstar point guard licking their
chops at facing the Thunder now. But i believe that they still are the
favorites in the West because they still have Kevin Durant…
(7) Los Angeles
Lakers vs. (2) San Antonio Spurs (SAS up 2-0): This was a series that I had
the Lakers competing in and even had them going to a game 7. But with all the
injuries to the Lakers lineup it looks like the Spurs are being given a bye
into the second round and will sweep the Lakers and send them home to heal. But
look for the Lakers to be far more competitive next year. But for this year
they were just a dysfunctional team who should have never been in the playoffs…
(6) Golden State
Warriors vs. (3) Denver Nuggets (Tied at 1-1): In what was a literal up and
down series thru the 1st 2 games with the Nuggets winning a close
one in the 1st game. Then in Game 2 the Warriors came alive scoring
131 points as they ended the 24 game winning streak of the Nuggets in Denver.
Now they go back to Oracle for 2 more game that the Warriors hope go their way
as they weren’t to shabby at home themselves this year…
(5) Memphis Grizzlies
vs. (4) Los Angeles Clippers (LAC up 2-1): This series looked like it was
going to be dominated by the Clippers early as they took both games at home
convincingly. Then they went on the road to face a tough Memphis squad and it
showed as the Grizzlies protected their home court on game one and look to do
the same in the next game. But the Clippers are a tough squad who look to
advance for the 2nd year in a row…
