#1 Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander (Career: W/L: 124-65, ERA: 3.40, K’s: 1454): Drafted with the 2nd pick in the 2004 draft by the Detroit Tigers Verlander was widely respected as a great pitcher coming into the league. It took a little over a year for him ot make his MLB debut and took off like a rocket from the start. He threw his 1st career no hitter just 2 years (2007) after making his debut and threw another in 2011. He has been a 5X All Star and has won the AL Cy Young and MVP (2011) awards in the same season. Even though he hasn’t won a World Series title he has been to the big show twice and with a young Tigers team anchored by Verlander last year wont be his last time. For those reason and many more he is my #1 pitcher in MLB Today…
