Game #7 – Stanley Cup
Finals – 08-09 San Jose Sharks vs. 11-12 Los Angeles Kings
08-09 San Jose Sharks
(CCH: Todd McLellan, W/L: 53-18-11(1), 117pts, Lost to the Ducks 4-2 in QF): This
was possibly one of the best Sharks team I had seen in years. And I know that
in previous years the Sharks had gone as far as the Western Conference Finals.
But this team lead by Joe Thornton was just a solid team wire to wire during
the Regular Season. They dominated teams and just looked like they were the best
team in hockey that season. Unfortunately they were not built to win in the
playoffs after they were bounced in 6 games by the 8-seed Anaheim Ducks. Ending
up being one of the most disappointing one seed in recent memory, but still one
of the best Sharks teams they have ever had and they could compete with some of
the best…
Game #7 – Stanley Cup
Finals – 08-09 San Jose Sharks vs 11-12 Los Angeles Kings
11-12 Los Angeles Kings (CCH: T.Murray/Darryl Sutter, W/L: 40-27-15(8), 95pts, Won Stanley Cup over NJ 4-2): This team took a little different path to the playoffs during their season. The Kings struggled thru the Regular Season. They struggled and barley got into the playoffs as a 8 seed as the Coyotes won the division. But lead by a former Stanly Cup winner in Darryl Sutter this team of young upstarts blew thru the 1st 3 rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs and then ran over the Devils to win their 1st Cup in franchise history. Lead by winger Brown and Kopitar (8 goals apiece) and a solid goaltending in Jonathan Quick. But they debunked the odds and won the title which give them the edge going into this matchup…
Synopsis: Kings 4,
Sharks 2: Now I gave this series to the Kings because it just seemed like
destiny was on their side thru the entire playoffs. And I think it would
continue to be on their side as they faced this very talented Sharks team.
Jonathan Quick is a amazing goalie and so was Nakbakov but the latter of the 2
seemed to keep falling short come playoff time. But the Sharks would put up a
solid fight winning 2 of their home games but overall the Kings momentum and
destiny would be too much for the Presidents Trophy winning team and the Kings
would take home the title again…
