Game #6 – World
Series – 12’ San Francisco Giants vs 74’ Oakland Athletics
2012 San Francisco
Giants (MNG: Bruce Bochy, 94-68, NL West Champs, Def. Det. Tigers 4-0 in WS): Now
this was a team that wasn’t exactly dominant during the regular season. But
they sure did know how to turn it on in the post season. They played full
series in the 1st 2 rounds of the playoffs going to 5 and 7 games respectively
against the Reds and Cardinals. It looked like the Giants were going to
struggle with the dominant Tigers after they took 2 different paths to the
Series. But the Giants were dominant from game one beating the best pitcher in
MLB with 3 HR’s by the Panda. But overall this was a great team that overachieved
and seemed to have faith on their side as they marched to their 2nd
World Series title in 3 seasons…
Game #6 – World
Series – 12’ San Francisco Giants vs 74’ Oakland Athletics
1974 Oakland
Athletics (MNG: Alvin Dark, 90-72, AL West Champs, Def. LA Dodgers 4-1 in WS): On
a team that was lead by multiple future HOF’s these athletics were continuing a
roll that had started 2 seasons before. This was the final year of the three-peat
that the Athletics put up in the mid-70’s. With a lineup that had Reggie
Jackson in the center of it, Teams struggled with the A’s and a pitching staff
anchored by Catfish Hunter and his 25 wins. They blew by the Orioles in 4 games
and proceeded to ride all over the Dodgers in 5 to bring home their 3rd
WS title in 3 years. A great team that was split up after this season but still
competed every year for division and World Series Title…
Synopsis: 12’ Giants
4, 74’ Athletics 3: Now I give this series to the Giants in 7 mainly
because that team seemed to have a sort of juju about them that made it seem
like they could beat just about any team on any givin day. All though the
Athletics were the better team in MANY ways. When you take the fact that the
Giants beat 2 teams that they shouldn’t have on their way to winning the title
so I can assume that the roll would keep them in it till a game 7 and the
Giants would be running on faith not skill and the odds would be in their favor
in that department…
