2013 Seattle Mariners
Pitching (SP: B+, RP:
C, #1SP: Felix Hernandez, CLSR: T.Wilhelmsen): I can’t lie beyond the Cat
Felix Hernandez I don’t really think much of the starters that the Mariners are
throwing out there this season. Iwakuma is a decent pitcher who hasn’t had a
break out year yet and Saunders could be a solid three but this team doesn’t look
very competitive on paper. But you never know??...
Offense (SL: B-,
BNCH: C+): The bats in this lineup isn’t aren’t very impressive but they
are ones that could sneak up on you and have them competing for a Wild Card
Spot at the end of the season. But overall this is a average lineup with an up
and comer in Justin Smoak. This lineup could make an impact but against the
pitching staffs in the AL West they don’t really see an easy road….
Defense (C: B, INF:
B+, OF: B-): Now this is the strongest part of the team. But it is also the
part of the team that if they stay healthy and play well. The team should be
performing at a high enough level to catch most teams by surprise. In Morse
they got a solid hitter and fielder from the Nationals and look to him to help
change the recent culture in Seattle…
Season Outlook: This season will be one of either great hope
for the next season or will be one of continued disappointment. I think the
latter will be the more likely just because as much as they have a great
collection of talent. That will achieve great things in the years to come but in
2013 they will most likely be in the 2nd to last spot just above the
Houston Astros who I believe will be in the cellar in the AL West. So sorry
Mariners fans there will be no surprise division title this year…
