Memorial Stadium,
Berkley, CA…University of California Golden Bears: For a stadium that is
almost 100 years old (91 to be exact), this place is holding up pretty well.
The permanent home of the University of California Golden Bears, Memorial
Stadium has been the site for many great games, Including the “Big Game”
victory for the Bears over the Cardinal. As one of the oldest stadiums in
college football it was recently inducted into the NRHP (National Registry of
Historic Places) in 2006. The Golden Bears haven’t seen too many successful
seasons but they have had the same home. Short of some renovations that have
been made over the years it is still the same basic stadium. Now this place has
been a stall worth place in bay area lore and one day I plan on visiting for a
cal game or the big game vs Stanford.
But for now its #5 on my Top 5 Bay Area Sports Landmarks…
