2013 San Francisco Giants Spring Training Review…

2013 San Francisco Giants

Pitching (SP: A, BP:B+, #1 SP: Matt Cain, CLR: Sergio Romo): With a pitching staff that starts with a future multi time cy-young award winner (Cain) and ends with a former cy-young award winner (Zito) . I like your chances of being able to repeat as not only division champs but not as World Series champs…

Offense (SL: A-, BNCH: B): The bats of the Giants definitely weren’t the most consistent bats in MLB last season. But when it came to crunch time and the playoffs the Giants got every big hit that they needed. They wondered how they would get by without All Star hitter Melky Cabrera…they went out and won a title. How will they fare this year???

Defense (C: A, INF: B+, OF A-): On the defensive side of the baseball the Giants will be just fine replacing Cabrera with Blanco a home grown product. On the infield there are still some questions even though there are not many holes. Scutaro, Sandoval, Belt and Crawford should make for a great combination should all of them remain healthy all season long…

Season Outlook: As for this season as long as the Giants remain healthy and their pitching staff holds true to its All-Star status then they will make some serious noise. Cain should get at least as many starts in as last season but he is only projected a 16 win season I personally think he may go for 20. As for the bats I think Hunter Pence should fill in just fine for Cabrera who moved on to the Blue Jays. They have at least 3 hitters who could possibly hit for 20+ HR’s this season and that would be huge to dominating the division and getting back into the playoffs this season. Overall: I see the Giants winning the West for the 3rd time in 4 year. Don’t know if they can win it all again but they will get their opportunity for sure…
