2013 Los Angeles
Dodgers
Pitching (SP: A-, BP:
B+, #1 SP: Clayton Kershaw, CLR: B.League): This pitching staff is pretty
solid starting with Kershaw. After that you have the big free agent signing of
pitcher Zack Greinke to back him up and they close out with a strong pitcher in
Harang. But where they really shine is in the bullpen when you have a former
starter like Capuano and a closer like League they should be fine…
Offense (SL: A, BNCH:
B-): Now on offense they began to improve about the trade deadline last
year. They added Ramirez and Crawford and also managed to pick up Adrian
Gonzalez as well. The Dodgers had no worries about spending $$$ since new
ownership took over and nowhere is that more evident than in the Starting
lineup. I think the 9 starters will be making almost 100M a season between
them. Almost as much as the Yankees…
Defense (C: B-, INF:
B+, OF: A): The defense got better by virtue of batting order doing so.
Almost all of the hitters that the Dodgers picked up are also good in the field.
But the one thing that they solidified was the outfield, if Crawford comes out
healthy and plays all season the Dodgers will have the best outfield in
baseball as far as I am concerned. Either, Crawford and Kemp should make for an
interesting lineup as well….
Season Outlook: This
is a team that I expect to do well this season. Unlike their cross town
counterparts the Angels they haven’t thrown together a rag tag group of
veterans. The Dodgers went out and got specific pieces that will serve specific
roles for Manager Don Mattingly. Everyone from Nick Punto to Adrian Gonzalez
will have a job to do and as long as they do that I see the Dodger finishing at
minimum 2nd place and in a wild card spot and if the Giants fall off
at any point this season the Dodgers should be right there to overtake them and
take the NL West…
