2013 Arizona
Diamondbacks
Pitching (SP: B+, BP:
B, #1 SP: Ian Kennedy, CLR: J.J.Putz): Now with a pitching rotation
anchored with young arms the Diamondbacks have a good chance of competing with
the big dogs in their division. Kennedy, Cahill and McCarthy are 3 of the more
dangerous young arms in baseball and look to make an impact in the National
League this season…
Offense (SL: B+,
BNCH: B): The starting lineup for the D-Backs looks completely different
than it did last year on opening day. They went out in free agency and added a
couple of names to their infield (Pennington) and their outfield (Ross). All of
these names should be able to produce runs for the strong Dbacks pitching staff…
Defense (C: B, INF:
A-, OF: B+): Defensively the addition of Prado and Hill as well as
Pennington they should be much better that they were last year finishing in the
middle of the pack as far as overall performance. The outfield should be pretty
solid as well with the addition of Ross
who isn’t exactly Willie Mays but he will add something they didn’t have last
season…
Season Outlook: Overall
the Diamondbacks shouldn’t be competing for a World Series title this season. But
I do expect them to make some noise and maybe play spoiler for another team in
their division this season. The Giants are a team that the Diamondbacks match
up well with and should be able to take the season series if they play up to
their potential. But overall they will fall just short of the playoffs and
finish 3rd in their division behind the Dodgers and the Giants…
