The Raiders ended an abysmal season by putting up a decent
effort in the final 2 quarters of Sunday’s game against the Chargers. The
Raiders went in a different direction by force with Carson Palmer out with
injury. But that direction looked like a positive one as the backup QB Tyrell
Pryor made his 1st NFL start. The kid looked good but couldn't find
the accuracy to complete 50% of his passes but he did score all three Raiders
touchdowns (2 air 1 ground). But this season was already over with for both
teams before this game started, so all they had to play for was pride and the
Raiders couldn't even muscle up that….
Game #16 – Oakland
Raiders at San Diego Chargers
Offense: C+ (T.Pryor
13/28 150yrds, 2TD, 1INT, T.Pryor 9/49yrds 1TD, R.Streater 4/77yrds): As for the offense despite the injection of
excitement that Pryor may have given the RaiderNation. There wasn't really much
that the Raiders did right. At least not on offense, The Raiders must look to
improve the offensive line in the off-season to keep Carson and McFadden
protected. The cohesion of the offense is what needs to get better and that
will with time. But overall this was just another game where the Raiders came
up short. And everyone knows this season has been full of them. So I just like
most Raiders fans am happy to see the season end…
Defense: B- (Passing
Yrds All. 151yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 70, 0TO): The defense as it has for
most of the season played slightly better than average. But they just couldn't force
a turnover not even when they needed to. To make a difference in the game the
Raiders defense are going to have to play more consistent on defense. As for
this game they played well enough holding the Chargers to under 250 yards of
total offense and under 100 yards rushing. These are not easy feats in the NFL
so my hat is off to them but the Raiders need to add some depth at CB and LB
and they should be fine next year….
Final Score: Chargers
24, Raiders 21
Overall: B
