Week 17 Review: Arizona Cardinals (5-11) vs. San Francisco 49ers (11-4-1)…

This was a game the 49ers needed to win they came in with a slim half game lead on the Seahawks for a second straight division crown. The Seahawks were playing the Rams a game that could be tough, but we all knew that the hawks were going to get that win. And as kickoff began this game the 49ers offense seemed to stall and have a major hangover from the Seahawks loss the prior week. But as the game continued on they got more cohesive and the stars just seemed to align right for both sides of the ball. And as much as the Cardinals fought valiantly till the end but just couldn’t stop the slide as they went 1-10 in their final 11 games. It cost Wisenhunt his job and left the team lost in limbo…

Game #17 – Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers

Offense: B+ (C.Kapernick 16/28 276yrds 2TD’s, F.Gore 20/68yrds 1TD, M.Crabtree 8/172yrds 2TD’s): The kid put up his best game of the season at the right time. The team needed this one to have a chance at the #2 seed. And Colin went out there and beat a defense that despite the record play hard and make young QB’s  look silly. Gore had a solid game as he ran for a touchdown. But Crabtree was the one who had a stellar day as he torched the Cardinals defense for over 150yrds and both of Kapernick’s TD’s. if they can continue this chemistry in the playoffs the 49ers will be competing for a NFC championship again this year. But we will have to see how it unfolds in 2 weeks…

Defense: A- (Passing Yrds All. 225yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 55yrds, 2TO’s): This was a game where even as the offense struggled the defense played solid all game long. The 2 turnovers that they did force came later in the game after the offense had heated up and took control of the game. But they were effective against the run and held Cardinals backs to under 60 yards on the day. That’s impressive in its self but this defense will be returning their defensive beast Justin Smith for the divisional round. Which will be huge but in this game the defense was dominant in a way that we haven’t seen in awhile hopefully they can keep it going and ride the momentum to a Super Bowl. Only time will tell…

Final Score: 49ers 27, Cardinals 13

Overall: A-
