Double K’s Perspective: “Baseball Writers Elect no one to HOF in 2012”…

In today’s baseball we have an epidemic. Its something that has troubled us for years in the past. It started in the late 80’s and has continued ever since. Baseball has tried to show the general public that they are trying to remove this issue from their game. But unfortunately every year we get at least 1 or 2 suspensions for use of “Performance Enhancing Drugs” or “Steroids” as they have been known in the past. This year the “Steroid Era” made its way to the Hall of Fame in the form of Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa. Three men that pretty much represent the bulk of the Superstars during the Steroid Era, these are also the 3 of the 4 men that have been accused of, suspected of or were caught using PED’s. During this next week I will be covering 5 of the biggest stars that were left out of the Hall of Fame this year. Starting with #5 on Tuesday Jack Morris a man that I remember as being one of the best pitchers in the game during his era and even though his numbers weren’t outstanding his impact of the game was amazing. Same thing with #4 on Wednesday Craig Biggio one of the best 1st basemen in baseball during his career but still came up 7% short of being a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. I have some real issues with what went on here this year and I will express my individual problems as the week goes on. But my overall problem is this to deny a whole era of baseball due to the confirmed actions of a few, and the alleged use by everyone else. These writers sit on their high pedestals and act like they have never done anything to get an edge in a competition. I don’t condone the use of steroids  or any other PED but I will say this it is a part of our culture and a part of our times so we need to acknowledge it in a placve where we are supposed to be keeping track of baseballs history and as sorry as I am to say it. Steroids are a part of the baseball story that has been told and is still being told in recent years. But I will digress for now and allow you to check out my Top 5 list for this week. Till later class is dismissed….
