This was a game that even I thought that the Raiders had a
fair shot at winning. The defense has been pretty strong most of the season so I
figured that that they could stop a struggling Carolina Panthers team. And with
Carson Palmer at the helm of the offense they could at least play well enough to
get a decent win. But that was not what happened at the end of the day the star
QB Cam Newton and the surprising Carolina defense that knocked out Palmer early
and began to dominate the Raiders in many fashions on both sides of the ball…
Game #15 – Oakland
Raiders at Carolina Panthers
Offense: C+ (M.Leinart
16/32 115yrds 1INT, D.McFadden 17/33yrds, D.Heyward-Bey 2/31yrds): The
Raiders offense was abysmal during this game. The Raiders lost starting QB
Carson Palmer for the season early in this game and the Raiders just couldn’t seem
to get right after that. McFadden turned in a bad game managing to only rack up
a 30 yard game and the sad thing was that this led the team in rushing yards.
Matt Leinart looked decent but definitely didn’t look like the Raiders QB of
the future. So for now this season is lost but the Raiders may need him to step
up next week and get the win…
Defense: B- (Passing
Yrds All. 170yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 112yrds. 2TO): The defense really didn’t
have a bad day. But they just didn’t play all that great either. They kind of
allowed Cam Newton to do what he wanted. But the bright side of it was the fact
that they only allowed 17 pts to the Panthers overall on the day. But I think
that the defense has a game to build on for when the offense actually starts to
click. Unfortunately that wont be until next season as the Raiders have been
eliminated from the playoffs for weeks. But this one is, despite the loss a
game the defense can hang their hat on….
Final Score: Panthers
17, Raiders 6
Overall: C
