Week 15 Review: San Francisco 49ers (10-3-1) at New England Patriots (10-4)…

This was a game that was definitely a tale of two halves for the 49ers. Now with that being said the part of the team that we are talking about is what will surprise you. I say that only because it was the defense not the offense that seemed to come out…. I don’t know if it was cocky or lost. The 49ers defense looked like the best in the NFL in the 1st half against the best offense and possibly best QB in the NFL in Brady and the Patriots. They forced 3 TO’s and had Brady and the Patriots Backs on the run holding them to under 100 yards in both rushing and passing categories.  Then came the 2nd half where the 49ers were up 31-3 at one point and the 49ers defense proceeded to give Brady and the boys whatever they wanted as they scorched the 49ers defense for 28pts in a matter of 18 game minuets to tie the game up before the offense came in and was able to put up more points and seal the game….

Game #14 – San Francisco 49ers at New England Patriots

Offense: A- (C.Kaepernick 14/25 216yrds 4TD 1INT, F.Gore 21/83yrds, M.Crabtree 7/107yrds 2TD): I am going to have to give it to the kid Kaepernick he was impressive. He really only made one bad throw all game and that was the INT to McCourty. There were a couple of mistakes made by the young QB that disturbed me the fumbles were the big thing for me, 3 of them to be exact. But those will hopefully be corrected by the playoffs with practice and film study time. Overall though anytime you throw 4 TD’s in a game you have truly done something special. Frank Gore chipped in with a solid 75+ yard game and Crabtree excelled as he normally dose when given the ball on a regular basis. Heck even Randy Moss got in on the action scoring on a big pass play reminiscent of the days of Brady/Moss. Expect big things from this combo come the playoffs….

Defense: B- (Passing Yrds All. 443yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 95yrds, 4TO): The defense looked amazing in the 1st half making Brady move around in the pocket and make a lot of bad passes resulting in a couple of picks as well as forcing a couple of fumbles out of the running backs. But in the 2nd Half they got lit up like a x-mas tree. Brady passed for almost 400 in the half and also threw for 3 TD’s and ran for 1. It was the most pathetic I had seen the 49ers defense look in a lot of years. Now given the fact that it was Tom Brady I give them a little bit of lee way there. But at the end of the day the defense held when it mattered after the offense gave them back a 10 point lead. So at the end of the day the team got the win. So all is forgiven but as my mother used to say “you better not let it happen again”…

Final Score: 49ers 41, Patriots 31

Overall: B+
