Happy New Years Eve from 4 ACES Network and the Boys
at West Coast Bias…
I began this year with hopes and dreams of a Super Bowl for
the Bay Area in the near future. I watched the New York Giants take down the
New England Patriots for the 2nd time in 4 years. It was one of the
best Super Bowls I had watched since the last time to two team met in 2008. But
even though the title went home to the East Coast for this off season, I was a
little bit happy because the Patriots have kind of become the evil empire of
the NFL. They don’t necessarily buy up all the talent but they have been a top
team in the AFC for a few years now and have been a perennial Super Bowl
contender the whole time. But the Giants who had to do exactly what the Packers
did the year before in winning their Super Bowl. They got hot late and carried
that into the playoffs and beat the 49ers in the NFC championship game. But the
main staple of the Giants game was their defense same as it was in 2008 and
once again they chased Tom Brady around made the Patriots look human….
During that same time we got to see a classic battle in the
BCS National Title game. The Crimson Tide of Alabama came in a one loss team and
was facing the LSU Tigers who had been hot all season long and had just come
off beating the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC championship game. It looked like
Bama was about to take a disappointing loss as they had played the Tigers in
the regular season and loss 9-0 not being able to move the ball against a stout
LSU defense. But that was not the case as the Tide came in rolling and rolled
right over the Tigers 21-0 to win their 9th National Title in school
history. Not to mention they ended the Tigers hopes of an undefeated season.
But it was one of those intriguing stories from 2011 that carried over into
2012. Now fast forward a couple of months and we have the wonderful start of
the baseball season that would yield some really interesting stories of 2012..
The
Miami Marlins were the talk of the town in the beginning of the baseball
season. They had a new stadium a new logo and a whole new roster of potential
all stars and a new Manager who had a winning pedigree in Ozzie Guillien.
Things looked good for the Marlins they were in line to be a powerhouse team in
the NL for years to come. The Dodgers had some news for their fan base as well with
the new ownership feeling that money was no object. But that wouldn’t be till
later in the season. In the AL the Rangers were set to try to own the AL again
but they would have competition from another team in their own division. The
Angels went out and landed 2 of the biggest free agents of the last off season.
Mega hitter Albert Pujols and star pitcher C.J.Wilson both came the LA with
designs set on winning the division and making a run at the World Series. With
all that said im going to end this 3 part series right here. Make sure to come
back next week as we cover the rest of the baseball season and the Los Angeles
Kings 1st Stanley Cup championship and the Giants 2nd
World Series in 3 years. As we wrap the year up for 2012 here on Double K’s
