Double K’s 2012-13 NFL Awards (NFC): Offensive Player(s) of the Year…

Welcome back to the NFL Awards for the 2012-13 season according to Double K. With this particular award I was a bit torn. If you had asked me early in the season I would have given this award outright to AP. But recently I took a look at the stats and realized that with 2 games left to go in the season both of these gentlemen are poised to set NFL single-season records for their respective positions. Peterson is just 294 yards away from breaking Erick Dickerson’s almost 30 year old record for rushing yards in a season. Calvin Johnson is 181 yards away from breaking Jerry Rice’s almost 20 year old record for receiving yards in a season. Both of these are astounding feats if they do it and if they don’t the both deserve to share the NFC OPOY…

2012-13 NFC Offensive Player of the Year (A) (Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson Jr): The man known to his opponents as Calvin Johnson Jr is known as “Megatron” to the rest of us. He seems like an unstoppable force as the Lions limp on in this season to a possible top 5 pick in next years draft. Megatron is out there tearing up the turf and making corner back look bad. And while doing that he has racked up a season for the ages. He has amassed 1600+ yards for the 2nd consecutive season and will most likely break Jerry’s single season record for receiving yards. For these and many other reasons he shares the title of NFC Co-Offensive Player of the year…

2012-13 NFC Offensive Player of the Year (B) (Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson): The 2nd player on this list may very well end up winning CPOY and MVP. 1 year ago at this time we were all wondering if Adrian Peterson was even going to be able to play again. With a torn ACL and MCL most normal people would have called it a day. But this work out warrior went out there and did what he does and managed to make it back by training camp. Not only did he make an amazing recovery but he has been the lynchpin in why the Vikings have had what little success that they have had this season, fighting for a playoff spot. For these reasons and many more he is my NFC Co-Offensive Player of the year…
