If you have been reading this blog recently then you know
what this post is all about. This week we are handing out the Double K NFL
awards for the NFC. In the last post I gave you my two winners for the
Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year. AN d the choices were good ones.
But today we are going to start dealing with the major awards and today we are
doing Defensive Player of the Year. For this was a tough choice because there are
a lot of candidates for the award on the 49ers alone. Instead though I gave the
award to someone who has been doing it for years. But just recently really got
noticed. Chicago Bears Safety Charles Tillman…
2012-13 NFC Defensive
Player of the Year (Chicago Bears S Charles Tillman): Tillman takes the
award this year because as an individual he has been one of the top defensive
players in the league. This year alone Tillman forced 12 turnovers (10 FF, 2
INT, both INT’s returned for TD’s) and scored two defensive touchdowns. On a
defense that for a stretch in the middle of this season was the best defense we
had seen in awhile. And Tillman was a huge reason for that being that he is a
experienced leader and captain on this defense. Overall he has been the model
defender and player representing himself well on and off the field. So even though
the awards have not been handed out yet. Tillman can just be happy to be Double
K’s NFC Defensive Player of the Year…
