Both the Raiders and the Buccaneers came into this week
kinda hot. But if you read my preview of this game I thought that the Raiders
would be the one to pull out the victory. And they almost did they battled
until late in the game but I will tell you this it was a very embarrassing
effort on one side of the ball and a amazing effort on the other side. I will
let you guess which one is which. How many times can a quarterback throw for
this many yards and still lose due to throwing almost as many picks. But lets
get to the grades on this one…
Game #8 – Tampa Bay
Bucaneers at Oakland Raiders
Offense: B- (C.Palmer
39/61 414yrds 4TD’s 3INT’s, D.McFadden 7/17yrds, M.Reece 8/95yrds 1TD): Oh
where do I start. The running game was pretty much nonexistent as McFadden only
amassed 17 yards on the ground which brought the Raiders offense to a
screeching halt early. But after the half Carson Palmer got it going and ended
up with over 400 yards of total offense. Their leading receiver was halfback
Marcel Reece… But they were in the game until late and came very close to
taking the lead if not for Palmers 3rd INT of the game. Effectively
ending it for the Raiders…
Defense: D (Passing
Yrds All. 237yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 278yrds, 1TO): Trust me though there
were other reasons that the Raiders lost this game and one huge reason was the
performance of rookie RB Doug Martin. The kid went off for over 200 yards and
had 4TD’s in the game (including the game winner in the 4th) .
Anytime that a back dose that to you it is embarrassing as a NFL defense. But
when it is a rookie RB that just downright wrong. That is why the Raiders
received a D grade for their pitiful effort of stopping a great running back
but not Barry Sanders by any stretch of the imagination. But if the Raiders
continue to play run defense like that then this is going ot be a long season…
Final Score :
Buccaneers 42, Raiders 32
Overall: C
