Week 7 Review: Seattle Seahawks (4-3) vs San Francisco 49ers (5-2)

This was a game that I thought would be a “trap game” for the 49ers. They would come in overconfident and on a short week. Seattle has been a team on the rise. They beat the Packers in surprising fashion and did the Patriots the same way. So what’s to say they couldn’t beat their third Top 10 team in the past 3 weeks. The 49ers are the ones to say that they wont. The 49ers came into this game ready to go, the defense came in upset and ready to tear the head off of young QB Russell Wilson. He was running a lot this game but for the most part didn’t make many mistakes. Could the 49ers offense take advantage of this? Barley but enough to win the game…

Week #7 Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers

Offense: B- (A.Smith 14/23 140yrds 1TD 1INT, F.Gore 16/131yrds, F.Gore 5/51yrds): The offense wasn’t really impressive against a good Seattle defense. But there was one piece of the 49ers offense that the Seahawks couldn’t figure out and that was RB Frank Gore. He bowled over the LB’s in this game going for 131 yards. But what surprised them was his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He was the 49ers leading receiver for this game. The offensive line can still do some work on the practice field before next week but they did well enough to get through this game…

Defense: B+ (Passing Yrds All. 122yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 136yrds, 1TO): The defense came to play as I said in the opening lines. They didn’t stop star running back Marshawn Lynch letting him go off for over 100 yards but they did contain him not allowing him into the endzone. But they shined in confusing and harassing Rookie QB Russell Wilson. The 49ers front line was in this young mans face all day. They were blitzing from all angles and the defense played angry out there. If they can continue to play with this passion level all season the 49ers are going to win some games this season…

Special Teams: B (Punt Return Yrds 3/70yrds, Kick Return Yrds 2/41yrds): The Special teams put up a valiant performance and kept the 49ers in good field position for most of the game. Once again Ted Ginn Jr was at the center of the success of the 49ers return unit. As he continues to improve he will become more of a threat to opposing Special Teams units. Keep an eye on that as the season progresses…

Final Score: 49ers 13, Seahawks 6

Overall: B
