Week 7 Review: Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) vs Oakland Raiders (2-4)…

The Raiders came into this week really low. They had put up a great performance against the Falcons but just fell a FG short of overtime and a possible win. Well this week against a much weaker Jaguars team the Raiders got the overtime period and got the win. The Raiders have been pretty pathetic so far this season and starting 2-4 isn’t exactly a recipe to make the playoffs or win a division. But this can be the game that gets a run started that puts them in the playoff hunt. This wasn’t an easy victory but it was one that the Raiders should have won so for that I will say congrats… Now lets look at the grades…

Game #6 – Jacksonville Jaguars at Oakland Raiders

Offense: B (C.Palmer 26/46 298yrds 1TD, 1INT, D.McFadden 19/53yrds, DHB 4/85yrds): The offense for the Raiders looked to keep momentum going after last week. Palmer looked good in only throwing 1 pick all game. But he seems to be getting more comfortable in the offense as the weeks go on. He also seems to be getting a better repore with the young receivers on the team. Which can only mean good things for the Raiders. McFadden isn’t producing pro bowl numbers but he is proving that he can stay healthy and consistently produce for the Raiders…

Defense: B+ (Paasing Yrds All. 181yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 54yrds, 1TO): The defense was at the best it has been in awhile. They allowed only 54 yards rushing to a weak Jacksonville offense who lost their starting QB and RB in the 1st quarter. Now this is where I draw the problem even with losing the 2 top performers on their offense the Raiders still allowed the Jaguars to stay in the game and take it to overtime. The defense needs to clean up a bit but they looked good enough to get the win. Will this continue to work this season…doubt it. But it is a good launching pad for the defense to get better…

Special Teams: C- (Punt Return Yrds 4/6yrds, Kick return Yrds 4/99yrds):  This is another reason for the Raiders struggles as of recently. When they get 99 yards out of the kick return unit and fell flat on their face when it came to punt returning. This has got to chance Carson Palmer and the boys need better field position in order to do some true damage and build a solid lead for the defense to protect. Overall a ok performance by this team in the win…

Final Score: Raiders 26, Jaguars 23 F/OT

Overall: B
