Week 4 Review: San Francisco 49ers (3-1) vs New York jets (2-2)…

This week class I stand before you proud of what the 49ers did this weekend but also ashamed of how the starting quarterback played. I only say ashamed because I believe that Alex can play a lot better if he wishes. But at the same time I give the Jets defense credit for being inventive in shutting down Mr Smith. Unfortunately they had no clue what to do with Colin Kapernick the 49ers #2  QB as he went for a rushing TD and made to look like he should be starting for the 49ers, And as for the defense let me just say the grades will speak for themselves…

Game #4 – San Francisco 49ers at New York Jets

Offense: B- (A.Smith 12/21 143yrds, F.Gore 21/62yrds 1TD, M.Manningham 3/47yrds): The offense for the 49ers didn’t look spectacular by any stretch of the imagination.  They didn’t put up a lot of yards, but with 3 running backs putting up TD’s against the Jets. They looked impressive in that department, Alex Smith and Colin Kapernick combined to shred the Jets defense. On the other side of the field the Jets offense struggled as both Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow could not do a thing against the 49ers defense on this Sunday…

Defense: A (Passing Yards All. 100yrds, Rushing Yards All. 45yrds): WOW….What can I say but …WOW the 49ers defense seemed to feel slighted after last weeks loss to the Vikings. They came out from the 1st snap and dominated the Jets offense. They ended the day with a total of 6 turnovers (5 fumbles, 1INT). The 49ers defense were a fantasy owners dream. They also made Sanchez look like a rookie quarterback out there. The Jets defense on the other hand did look decent but definitely couldn’t stop the 49ers backup QB Colin Kapernick as he ran all over them in the 1st quarter. Just remember folks this defense is only getting better…

Special Teams: B- (Kick Returns: 1/25yrds, Punt Returns: 4/40yrds): The Special Teams unit wasn’t really a factor in this game. The return of Ted Ginn Jr was a big part of the effectiveness for the punt return game. As for the Jets Special teams I will tell you this when you have a punt blocked with only one man rushing you are not having a good day…

Final Score: 49ers 34, Jets 0

Overall: A
