This was supposed to be the statement game, this was supposed
to be the game where the Oakland Raiders proved this was their division to
lose. Instead they went out to Denver and stunk up the joint. Making the
Broncos fans go home happy as they got delivered with a brutal loss for the
Raiders and a very impressive outing and win for Payton Manning and the Denver
Broncos. So lets get to the grades on
this letdown of a game…
Game #4 – Oakland Raiders
at Denver Broncos
Offense: D+ (C.Palmer
19/34 202yrds, D.McFadden 13/34yrds, D.Moore 4/71yrds): The offense once
again looked enimic against a decent Broncos defense that the Raiders just made
look like there were 11 Pro Bowlers on the field at all times. Carson palmer
looked like he took a step back as he looked lost in the offense again. On the
other hand Payton Manning looked more like himself than in any of the previous
3 weeks. Manning threw for over 300 yards and hit for 3 touchdowns as well.
This is what the Raiders cant do if they want to make the playoffs…
Defense: D (Passing
Yrds All. 338yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 165yrds): The Defense for the Raiders
looked pathetic as they couldn’t stop a underfed baby from crawling across the
goal line. The Raiders got the full Payton Manning treatment, but the Broncos didn’t
stop there. Willis McGahee went out and
put up a game against the Raiders moving the ball almost at will. The Broncos
defense was in Palmers face all day long and he just couldn’t get a rhythm going
against the Broncos. McFadden came up short again putting up no TD’s himself.
There was much room left for improvement….
Special Teams: D
(Kick Return Yards 0yrds, Punt Return Yards 0yrds): The special teams unit pretty much did nothing
on both sides of the ball. They really didn’t stop the Broncos from getting
decent field position on the Raiders. Whereas the Raiders couldn’t move the
ball at all on returns and couldn’t stop Denver. This has to change if they are
gonna turn things around this season…
Final Score: Broncos 37,
Raiders 6
Overall: D+
