NLDS Game 1: Cincinnati Reds (97-65) at San Francisco Giants (94-68)…

The San Francisco Giants claimed their division title with a couple of weeks left in the season. After taking a last series from the Dodgers and taking some momentum into the postseason. And for all their accomplishments they draw the Cy young favorite Johnny Cuerto and the Cincinnati Reds. The Giants in return sport the MVP favorite and batting champion C Buster Posey. So can the Giants get it done without their other MVP candidate Melky Cabrera. This has yet to be seen. As for now let’s get to the probable’s and the grades…

Game #1 – Cincinnati Reds (J.Cuerto 19-9, 2.78 ERA) at San Francisco Giants (M.Cain 16-5, 2.79 ERA)

Batting: CIN: B+/ SF: A-: The Bats of the San Francisco Giants came alive late in the season. Even with the loss of Melky the Giants managed to battle back and take the division title. And even thought they didn’t come into the season on a winning streak. I do believe the Giants are one of the hotter teams in baseball right now expect them to make a series of this considering the fact that the Reds have home field advantage. The Reds lineup is very potent, even Joey Votto who has had a sub standard year is hitting pretty well. I think the Giants pitchers should be able to hold off the reds lineup long enough to get a win at home and make it a series early…

Pitching: CIN: A/ SF: A-: This is where the teams matchup pretty evenly. 1st you have Matt Cain who has been the true ace and workhorse of the Giants staff this season winning 16 games and posting a sub 3.00 ERA. The Giants would have never made the playoffs without his strong performance. Including a perfect game the 1st in Giants history. Then there is Cuerto the man that will most likely win the NL Cy Young award is up in Game 1, the Giants lineup will be in trouble but I believe they will be fine and get at least 1 or 2 runs off of him….

Bench: CIN: B+/SF: A: The Giants have a slight advantage here as they have a pretty deep bench. With the vets that they have in the back end of the bench. The Reds have a light bench and Dusty Baker is going to have to make some real smart moves to make this a true series. Im sure he is already having nightmares about this one…

Final Score: Giants 4, Reds 2
