Double K’s Perspective: The Alex Smith argument…

Hello class if you listened to the show this weekend then you know that at the beginning of the show there was a very heated debate between the Doual and Mr.Suave. I didn't do a lot of talking during the early parts of the debate but i did chime in and put out some numbers for Mr Suave. Well in this post I am going to  go a little more in-depth about some of the points that he has made…

“Alex Smith is a average QB”: This is a statement that I truly disagree with. I understand that Alex may never truly reach “Elite” status in the NFL. But he is in no way and average QB, to say that is to say that former Niners Head Coach Mike Nolan was truly an idiot. Because Aaron Rodgers is a ver good QB and Smith was considered Rodgers equal in talent just not in his readiness for the NFL at the time of the draft. But every expert that has followed Alex in even the slightest has attributed his issues to the lack of consistency at the Offensive Coordinator position in the 49ers organization. Both Jim Harbaugh and other recent NFL experts see something in Alex that I am beginning to understand….

“Alex Smith is a great Game Manager!!”: I consider this statement an insult to my intelligence as a football fan. I am going to throw a couple of number at you… the 1st number is 8. That number is the number of interceptions that Alex Smith has thrown in the past 21 games in the regular season. There are a very few QB’s who have done that over that same period of time(Their names are probably Rodgers, Brady, Manning). The next number is 17. That is how many wins the 49ers have turned up in that same number of regular season games. Alex Smith goes out and week in and week out makes good decisions, does not turn the ball over and is efficient with his completion percentage. These are things that “Elite” Qb’s do well and though Alex may never be looked at as one he definitely puts up numbers like the ones we consider “Elite” QB’s…
