2012-13 Golden State Warriors: Position by Position breakdown…

Position: Center

Starter: Andrew Bogut (11ppg,8.3rpg, 2.6apg)

Backups: Andreis Bendris (1.7ppg,3.7rpg, 0.3apg), Festus Ezili (Rookie)

Synopsis: This is post #5 of 5 in my season opening series about the Golden State Warriors. Today we are going to talk about the one position that the Warriors have been weak at in recent years. The Center position with the likes of Bendris and Dampier has been the Warriors major struggle over recent years. They went late last season and made a trade that few saw coming sending Monte Ellis to Milwaukee for injured big man Andrew Bogut. At the time it seemed like the Warriors were making another bad decision. But once all the pieces were together it all made a lot more sense. Having Bogut this season gives the Warriors some offensive and rebounding punch from the center position. Festus Ezili is some much needed attitude from the low post. He is strong and tough, Hes not gonna give you 20+ points and 10+ rebounds a game. But he is going to take up those garbage minuets with toughness and defense when it is necessary. Bendris on the other hand at this point should be trade bait or a serviceable 3rd stringer until he can get some confidence back. But look for a lot of improvement from the Warriors at the Center position for years to come….
