2012-13 Golden State Warriors: Position by Position breakdown…

Position: Shooting Guard

Starter: Klay Thompson (12.5ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.0apg)

Backups: Brandon Rush (9.8ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.4apg)

Synopsis: As we go position by position the Warriors began to take shape. Today we are talking about the shooting guard position. Once again the Warriors only have a starter and a backup. Lets start with the starter Klay Thompson. Klay is only in his 2nd year (Both with the Warriors) but is said to have an upside like no other. And I see it! The young kid has a sweet stroke that should work well with Steph Curry and should open up the paint for Bogut. But he is a bigger two guard so he should be a more imposing threat on opposing guards than Monte Ellis was. And as he grows aas a player he is only going to get smarter and better. Lets hope he stays in Golden state for years to come. Now on to Brandon Rush who wants take the starting small forward position. He is consistent and was vital for the Warriors to keep so that he can continue to mentor young Thompson and teach him a little more about the defensive side of the game. Rush is a great defender and has a real shot at that starting three spot. But I think the Warriors would be better served to have Rush as the 1st man off the bench and playing the backup role ot Klay and sometime playing the point. But those are decisions for Mark Jackson to make all I can ssay is I like what I see…
