2012-13 Golden State Warriors: Position by Position breakdown…


Position: Point Guard

Starter: PG Stephen Curry (14.7 pts/gm, 3.4 reb/gm, 5.3 asst/gm)

Backups: PG Jarrett Jack (15.6 pts/gm, 3.9 reb/gm, 6.3 asst/gm w/NO)

Synopsis:  The Warriors have a legit backcourt at the Point Guard position for the 1st time in awhile. Just like they have true depth and talent at the center position. But we will get to that in a little while. Today we are talking about the Point Guard position. At that position the Warriors have 2 capable veterans in Curry and Jarrett Jack. Curry is a lil younger and has a strong game but he just cant seem to stay healthy (going down recently again with an ankle injury). That is what plagued him all of last season he couldn’t stay on the court for longer than 10 game stretches at a time. This is where the signing of JJ is so huge for the Warriors. They finally have a backup Point Guard who is established and has a NBA mind. (Jack used to start for the Hornets after Paul left for LA.)  You combine that with the fact that Mark Jackson is a former NBA Point Guard and can help groom these guys into All Stars says that the Warriors have made some positive moves for the future of this team because Jack can help give Curry much needed rest when necessary. Thereby extending the NBA life of the young Point Guard for this team that desperately needs consistency at that poition…
