Welcome back students…. Today we answer a very important
question. “How do you dominate your opponent in almost every aspect of the game
and still lose?” I say that in jest the Raiders/Chargers was a good game but
not for the Raiders after mistake after mistake. The defense did perform
decently holding the Chargers to 5 FG’s and only 1 TD. But unfortunately the
Offense couldn’t hold it together long enough to put up 23 points and win the
game…
Game #1 – San Diego
Chargers vs Oakland Raiders
Offense: C+ (Palmer
32/46 297yrds 1TD, McFadden 15/32yrds, Streater 4/27yrds 1TD): The offense
seemed inept at times. And Carson Palmer looked good throwing for almost 300
yards. He looked like he just wasn’t on the same page with the receivers that
he had. (Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford were hurt). But there is still hope for
Raiders fans as the offense will get better as it gels and they will get Moore
and Ford back. Giving Carson the weapons he needs to make a run at the division
title. But during this game they looked outright pathetic…
Defense: B+ (Passing
Yrds All. 231yrds, Rushing Yrds All. 32yrds): The defense was really a
bright spot for this team. It took them a lil bit to get going but giving up
only one touchdown is a great accomplishment in itself. The downside is that
they did give up 5 FG and never once lead the game. But anytime you hold a team
to 32 total rushing yards and only 260 yards all together is something to be
hopeful for, for the rest of the season….
Special Teams: C
(Raiders 21yrds, Chargers 94yrds): The special teams for the Raiders were
horrible after their starting long-snapper went out. They had 3 punts blocked
that resulted in Chargers FG’s which made the Chargers special teams look like all
pro’s. Overall not a bad performance but I will say there was definitely nothing
to write home about. Lets hope that Sunday’s game goes a lot smoother…
Final Score: Chargers
22, Raiders 14
Overall: C-
