Social Media in Sports and Entertainment…

Welcome students today we are going to discuss a thing that has been talked to death. I can guarantee you that it has even been done from this perspective. Why can I say that because it has never been talked about from Double K’s point of view. This past year my favorite football team the San Francisco 49ers were in the NFC Championship game. In this game a young man by the name of Kyle Williams committed errors that somewhat looking back were stupid but definitely rookie mistakes. That cost the 49ers a trip to the Super Bowl….

Now understand that this upset me as much as it upset most 49er fans and I cursed Kyle Williams and said that he should never be back returning punts or kicks for this team again. Even going so far as to say he should be cut this recent preseason. But never ever did I ever think that this young man should die. Or that any member of his family should meet any harm including Kyle himself. But there seems to be contingent of 49ers fans that thought it was ok and their right to go onto Twitter and other social media outlets and berate this young man with various messages wishing him and his harm some even going so far as to threaten death on him. This is what I take issue with because they are sports stars dose not mean that they deserve to be berated for what they do on the field. Ultimately it is just a game and we as fans need to realize that. Yes we all enjoy feeling like a part of the team. Feeling as if the 49ers really are our team. We criticize the coaches and owners as if we really have a financial steak in the team. But at the end of the day it is just a game folks you win some you lose some. Now if you gamble and lose that is your own fault for putting your hard earned money in the hands of a bookie. Don’t blame the Athletes they have it hard enough knowing that they may have cost their teammates a game or a championship. They need our support as sports fane and let them know that although they made huge mistakes they are human and entitled to make mistakes and we will forgive them because there will always be a next year and there will always a chance to have a story for redemption…..

That is all for today kids remember when you find yourself in that type of adversity. Take the high road because the low road is full of very unscrupulous people who will do anything to climb on top and have their 15 mins. Be aware..till then  Class is Dismissed….
