I would normally open one of these post with a “Welcome back
class…” and then I would proceed to describe to you what today’s post was going
to be about. I will say this much if you
watched MNF on this past Monday then you know where all my anger is coming
from. This past Monday night the final series of the Monday night game was the
most horribly officiated 2 mins. In football. I mean my nephews little tykes
league refs could have made a better call than that. But let’s get to the
issues that I have with this game I have 3 points to make…
#1) Non Calls/Calls
made on the final drive of the game: If you watched the game then you know
what I am talking about. There was a nitpicky roughing the passer call that I just
didn’t agree with. Then when you look at the final drive of the game, there was
the defensive pass interference that should have been offensive PI. Especially
considering that the wide out was basically riding the defender like a horse.
But the egregious calls on the final play 1. Block in the back at the line of
scrimmage, 2. Push off offensive PI on WR Golden Tate and the obvious blown
call on the final catch. These missed call and wrong call amounted in the Packers
losing a game they should have won…
#2) Seattle Seahawks
reaction to getting handed the win! (Specifically Pete Carroll and Golden
Tate): Now don’t get me wrong I get the politics of dealing with the media.
I understand that both Pete Carroll and Tate couldn’t exactly go to the referee
and tell them that they got the call wrong and give the game to the Packers.
But what they did do was bad, in Pete Carroll’s case he came out to the media
and everyone who would listen about how the Seahawks “fought hard” and “played
to the final whistle” when he knows good and well that his team got lucky and
was handed the game on a bad referee call. Have a little more tack than that
Mr.Carroll. Don’t treat the football loving public as if we are idiots and you
saw something different than we did. Now as for Mr.Tate his response of “I don’t
know what your talking about?” when asked about his push off in the end zone on
the final play. That is just ridiculous would you like us to believe that we didn’t
see you with both hands push Sam Shields to the ground before “not” making the
final catch at the game. If you do you are smoking somthing really strong and
maybe you should share so that we can all enjoy….
#3) The NFL’s
response to the blown call the next day: The NFL turned around and review
the play the next day. They acknowledged the push off that should have ended
the game and negated the touchdown. But the bad thing was they made the
statement that “the refs on the field got it right and it was a simultaneous
catch.” Really…Really? After looking at that play from every available angle
this was the conclusion that the league came too. Now if they had came out and
admitted that it was a blown call but that due to rule blah blah blah they couldn’t
reverse the decision would make more sense. Instead they ask the general public
to not believe their eyes but to believe the NFL and what you tell them. Well I
will say this to the NFL…take your explanation and shove it where the sun don’t
shine. Thank god they got the real referees back for this week’s games because I
don’t know if I could have lasted another
week of those replacement refs and neither could the NFL fans…
