Double K’s Perspective: The AL Wild Card Race…

Welcome back students today we are going to cover the other team in the Wild Card race. If you read the last Double K’s wrap up you know about the changes made to the Wild Card situation. Adding the extra Wild Card spot and creating the one-game playoff has added some intrigue to what was already a fun to watch scenario. Today we are going to talk about the Baltimore Orioles the team that the A’s have been battling all season long and that currently sit in the WC1 spot by one game over the Athletics…

2) WC2 Baltimore Orioles (86-64, 1GB in AL East, 42 Hm wins, 44 Rd wins): The Baltimore Orioles have been the Cinderella story of MLB. Even though they have competition in the form of the Washington Nationals who also had a resurgence this season under a new Manager. But in the AL the Orioles are the story everyone is talking about they a teetering between this second Wild Card spot the Al East division title. They were expected to be competitive this year but I don’t think that anyone saw this coming. They are 22 games over .500 for the 1st time in recent memory, and they definintly have a lineup and pitching that can be a threat in the Playoffs. But as for their chances of beating the Athletics in a one game playoff…. Well ill give it a 60/40 chance against them being able to pull it off. But as the season closes out it looks like that is going to be the matchup that we have for our 1st ever Wild Card play-in game…

So students that is our coverage of the Orioles a team to watch in this years Wild Card Race. Till tomm when we cover the remaining 3 teams still in the hunt for one of the 2 available Wild Card spots in this year’s post season. So be sure to check it out. Till then… Class is Dismissed…
