Double K’s 2012 Pac-12 Preview (Part 1: The North)…

Welcome back students with the start of the college football today I thought that we would take a look at the Pac-12. The new super conference of the West coast so to speak. What was the Pac 10 for so many years last year did the 2 things that I had been begging for them to do. #1 They added a couple more teams and split the conference into 2 divisions. #2 By doing this they necessitated the need for a championship game. Which in my eyes and hopefully in the eyes of the pollsters legitimizes the conference. Allowing for more BCS births. We will now look at the North Division of the Conference…

Pac 12 North

#5 Oregon Ducks (12-2, 8-1 Pac 12, 3-1 vs Top 25): The Ducks had another amazing year under Chip Kelley they won the inaugural Pac 12 championship. And finished off the year with a Rose Bowl victory. Now the loss of LaMichael James is a big one but this Oregon squad is stacked with talent and should be competing for a National Title or at least a BCS Bowl birth. With the emergence of #1USC becoming eligible for postseason play is gonna make it interesting…

#21 Stanford Cardinal (11-2, 8-1 Pac 12, 2-2 vs Top 25): The Cardinal took a huge loss in the NFL draft. Andrew Luck is a once in awhile find. But the new kid Nunes seems to be competent replacement. The Cardinal may have another 10 win season but there is a lot of new talent on this team. If that talent can gel the Cardinal can expect to be in the hunt for a bowl game at the end os the season…

California Golden Bears (7-6, 4-5 Pac 12, 0-3 vs Top 25): The Golden Bears return a squad that had its ups and downs last season. Finishing under .500 in conference for the 1st time in a couple of years lead to the Bears only getting a Holiday Bowl invite. And then took the loss to Texas. After that disappointment this young squad will be looking to show out lead by WR Allen. Who is looking to raise his NFL Draft stock this season…

Oregon State Beavers (3-9, 3-6 Pac 12, 0-4 vs Top 25): The Beavers won only 3 games last year and that was with one of the best backs in college football. Jaquizz Rogers. But now we are in a new year. And although every team has a chance I don’t really see the Beavers getting significantly better over the past year. So don’t expect more than 5-6 wins and maybe a Holiday Bowl invite if they are lucky…

Washington Huskies (7-6, 5-4 Pac 12, 0-4 vs Top 25): The Huskies were a 7 win team last season and although they took a hard loss in the Alamo Bowl in a shootout against Baylor and future Redskins QB Robert Griffin III. The Huskies still managed to put up 56 points. So as long as the offense continues to improve the team should have a better finish than this year…

Washington State Cougars (4-8, 2-7 Pac 12, 0-2 vs Top 25): The Cougars hired a new head coach installed a new offense and hoped for the best against a good BYU Cougars team. Unfortunately the Cougars of Washington State could barley move the ball and only scored 6 points total. I wish I hadn’t saw the game before I wrote this but after that I cant have faith that they are going to have a good season look for them to win 4-5 games and be sitting at home watching bowls this holiday season…

Being that this division currently holds the inaugural Pac 12 north division title and the Pac 12 Conference Champion in the Oregon Ducks. So what will this year hold? Who knows I know im not touching that prediction with a 10 foot pole. But I can garuntee that I will be watching every Saturday to see how it plays out. Till then…Class is Dismissed…
