The NFL’s Major run on rookie and young QB’s for the 2012-13 season…

Welcome back class today we are going to be discussing a trend that seems to be emerging in the NFL these days. That trend is the youth movement at the quarterback position. In four separate camps young guns came in and acquired the starting position by either beating out a veteran or being the best option at the position on the team….

Then there is Jake Locker a west coast product having attended the University of Washington and had great success there. He is now the starting QB for the Tennessee Titans over the incumbent starter veteran Matt Hassellback. This is what Locker was drafted for he as well as Dalton (CIN), Newton (CAR) and Gabbert (JAX) were all highly touted out of college and are now making an impact on their individual teams. And now again this year there are now 4 1st round QB’s who will start for their respective teams. Andrew Luck (IND) and Robert Griffin III (WAS)…. We were aware that they were handed the starting job for their respective club. But there was a lot of talk about both Brandon Weeden (CLE) and Ryan Tanahill (MIA) potentially capturing the starting QB positions for the Browns and Dolphins and after 2 starts into the preseason for both young QB’s and both have been named starters in the NFL. So that makes a total of 8 teams with rookie or 2nd year players starting. It looks like the future is now for one-fourth of the NFL franchises….

Will any of these players turn out to be the next Joe Montana, Young or Marino…. Only time will tell. But im gonna tell you this I know of 8 teams that are going to be having very interesting seasons . I know I will be watching hopefully you will too. Until then…Class is dismissed…
